And then, in the fall it's back to school to finish one more year of grad school!!! Gosh, can you believe it!!!?? I dream of our graduation day getting a job after I 'm done with school.. Oh to have a room at an actual school for my potential art class... I would make it look and feel beautiful and welcoming for my students and hopefully create with them a space for all to be creative, learn and have fun!

But for now it's still summer!!! And I have been waiting for this!!! A looooong time!!!

hey all you MAT ers!!!

Today is the final day of Cyberpedagogy!!!!!
It's kinda sad, because it was a fun class, but at the same time I am sooooooo glad this semester is over!!!
Man!!!

I think the best part of this particular class was that we got the chance to get to know each other a lot better through all the projects we did. And, when we did get to know each other, it turned out that everyone was even cooler than I thought! Not saying I didn't think you guys were cool before but, ya know all I am saying is now I am really a fan of all of yous! The projects we did gave us a chance to express ourselves, and be a little creative. I have to say, I did actually learn a lot in this class! I kinda thought I would be miserable the whole time because the class was technology based, but I think I have really made some strides! I for one am proud of me! I have a website now!!! C' mon, me ?! A website?!! Seriously!!!
Last but not least, the class was great also because of our wonderful instructors!
Awwwwwww!
Well, if you couldn't taste the sugar in my writing before, now you really should be able to! But seriously, I it it was a cool class with cool people!

So, does this mean this will be my last post ever??? Hummm, that is a good question! I don't know how much I will keep up with this blogy-blog, although it has been fun at times, I'm just not sure it's my style...

Well, we'll see.

I can tell you I will be bringing some delicious Carrot-mango-apple-banana-ginger smoothies to class, home made of course, and perhaps some delicious guacamole and chips too! Oh, Yum-o!!!
And now about the website readings for the past few weeks... I really enjoyed going through the eyelevel.si.edu blogg from the Smithsonian American Art museum! The first thing i did was go to the about section and already i learned something new right away1 The history of how people in the early 1800's would carry around portraits of their loved one's eyes was really interesting. And I thought it was a neat way to get a conversion going onthe blog and draw a lot of different meaning from the title of their site. I also liked the ask Joan of art section1 What a good idea1 I think I AM gonna ask something...I don't know what yet,but I like the concept of exchanges of information from a site like that. i also just thought the whole site was assessable. It didn't seems huffy r boring they way some museum blogs do and it was neat that such a site would come from the Smithsonian. Now I want to go there even more I have not been to D.C since my 8th grade trip! Maybe I would appreciate it more now... Next: Mess hall. This place is cool I want to go there! I never even heard of it! The end. Moving on: www.caconline.org Well I finally learned more about this whole pop up arts stuff that I have seen around the loop. I think it is awesome that we have that kind of stuff in our down town. I have always felt like Chicago is a welcoming city to the arts in many respects. It makes us more interesting and colorful. We are also lucky to have organizations like CAC. Some cities really don't thrive on the arts like we do here... Woooh us, Chi-town!
Ok, see ya later, blog readers! Or, see ya never! Ha ha, sorry, just kidding! I kid, I kid....

it's been I while since I made a post....

Ok, so not to be whinny, but I am gonna be. I just wanna say, being home sick is laaaaaaaame! I feel like I am going to fall behind in C&I, the biggest monster class ever, and my soar throat is a real pain right now. Overall, I think the stress and work load of the end of the semester got to my immune system...

I am actually aloud to just complain on this thing???
Here's a picture I found on the internet of "soar throat"
Ha ha...it's funny.

So anyway, with no voice and a soar through, I figured since I can't talk, I might as well do something constructive and be an active "blogger" today. Hummmm, maybe for once
I'll actually post something with meaning....almost.

Can I just say something really honest on this blog????
Ok.
I'm frustraited.
Yeah, yeah poor little grad student right?
I know!!! Not everyone even gets to go to grad school, so who am I to complain?
Believe me, I know. I think about this constantly. I am really thankful to be attending grad school and learning so much. I remind myself of this when ever I complain.
But, I'm not really that frustrated with school. I'm frustrated with my self.

Ok this is the honest part,
sorry cyberped,
but I'm frustrated because I just don't have the lust or appreciation
for technology everyone else around me seems to have
. I wish I could say I did
because it was brought to my attention that learning to use the
digital technology we have been practicing in our class is
going to be really important for my teaching and
ability to relate to my students.
But, I don't feel creative when
I use technology. I feel creative when I make things by hand!
My students will undoubtedly be more familiar with technology than me. So, if I don't get on board and at least learn to love what's digital, how will I create curriculum that is meaningful to students? Is my problem that I am just more interested in making things by hand and inviting students to get in touch with their ability to make things?

Sometimes, for some reason, people say, "oh, it's cool that your so analog". It like a novelty to be an analog!! People can be so attached to their technology that they don't seem to appreciate things or remember the time before, oh say, I-phones.....

So, I'm caught between; "we have all this technology available and we should utilize it", and "I just can't get excited about it but maybe I'll have to...."
So, that's why it sucks being "analog" at times. I just feel like I hardly ever know
how to do ANYTHING interesting with computers or anything technological.
When I do sort of figure things out,
technical stuff always seems tedious and boring to me.

So here's a funny picture of "technology". It's all old and out of date like the way I think...

Well, that was a lot of bitching. And for that, I sincerely apologize to ANYONE who may have actually read this. I also hope I didn't offend anyone who LOVES technology. Or, any robots for that matter. I'm sorry, robots, I do not hate YOU.
I want to end this post on a positive note though:
I will do that by saying this time last year, I had never made a PowerPoint in my life! That's right, I didn't do it in High School because my school was way too low tech for that and some how I got by without doing it in college. So last fall for John's class
I finally had to learn.
I've made a lot more PowerPoints since then, and now I am ok at dealing with the program and I kind of actually enjoy making the presentations! My next step is to learn how to do some of those fancy animated PowerPoint tricks so I can impress my students, a least a little bit. Maybe not impress, but keep up with...

And then after that, world domination!!!! Whahahahaha!
Kidding...

I leave this post with a quote by one of my all time favorite heroes Erykah Badu;

"Analog girl in a digital world..."

Also, just some thoughts on my presentation and the blogs

Hi.
Again.

I just thought I would mention I really enjoyed the Chicagoartmagazine site that we went over the other night. In case you couldn't tell...
I felt like it was actually something I would look at again! While I know a lot of the sites we visit are really good for resources,I personally just don't see my self looking at them actively, in less I have reason to. But, I liked chicagoartmagazine because it just had interesting articles. Hum, maybe it's because I am just more of a magazine kind of person... IDK.

Also, thanks to everyone who was there when I presented in Cyberped. You guys put up with my presentation and my slow tech. abilities... Tee hee!

Other than that, I hope everyone is having a decent week and getting work done, if need be. I for one am truly starting a count down to the last day of this semester!!!! Ugh!
Hello my blogy- blog!!!
So, this is my version of me using the letters of my name. While I can't say I had "fun" using illustrator it was a challenge for me because I really don't know the program. So, I guess I did kinda learn how to do a few things by doing this assignment. I just find using computer drawing tools to be tedious and annoying because what I really want to do it pick up a real pencil! Anyway, I realize they are useful tools and some people can do amazing things with them-just not me. But this was the best I could do!
Enjoy~

HelllllllllooOooOOoOOooOoo!

Hi blog. It's been a while. I'll admit it. I didn't make a post last week. That's bad. But you'll forgive me right?

Not only have I not made a post in a week, I realized I don't really make posts with much substance. But, I like it that way! I want to keep this blog light. It's the only place where I can write what ever the frek I want! And, I don't have to prove points, make things sound valid, or have all these profound discussions or observations when I write on this blog! So, I'm not gonna!
Sound immature? Sure, but too bad.

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Oh, Jeez!!! I am such a dork! I totally accidentally ignored the websites other than the type-face ones! I have no idea; I guess I just looked at the syllabus quickly and only caught the bottom two!?? Well, lucky since Irene did such a great job presenting the others in class, I am caught up. And, I leaned a lot from the sites we went over together. It was interesting hearing other people's perspectives too....
:-)
Anyway, that's all!
LOL!
The websites we looked at this week were sooooo cool!
Cool websites, where have you been all my life?

I loveed the Giraffe, the Nute and the X-ray one was a clever solution too!!! Ok, ya know what? They were all good! If all blogs and websites could be as interactive as the ones we looked at this week, I would use the web more! I want a shopping website where I can upload my picture and then it will show me how I will look in the clothes before I buy them! I also want a golden egg now Daddy, (Ha ha, J/k I had to. No serious posts on this blog permitted ) Is there such a thing? Ok, well someone should get on that because when I saw bemboszoo, I was like OMG anything is possible! Why didn't we look at these type sites when we did the type project though?

So yeah the other site was cool too,www.wordsatplay.com I loooooved the way it was set up. I can't say anything bad. When I was first watching the intro,I was like hum, this should have music, but then I turned up the sound on my computie and I was like, "They really did think of everything!" Oh,graphic designers, I can't pull one over on you!! So damn smart!
Ta ta for now!

yO Yo!

Isn't this the cutest picture you have ever seen? Yes, this is what I do to distract myself from how crazy I am going because of school/work. Instead of doing thesis( did some one say th-sis???) I was on the web looking for cuteness! I'm Cracking! But seriously this is cute, right? Wooooohhhhh! A h ah aha aha hhahaaha!
OOOooOOoOoooOOOOOHHHH!
(Hey those o's look kinda like spaghetti o's)
CyberPed!!!

P.s. I had fun interviewing people at the MCA. I feel like I tried not to scare people to much....??? People were nice and had a lot of interesting things to say about fashion when in museums...I love you Irene!!!

This is NOT an intelligent blog. just sayin'...I bet they wouldn't have let me be an MAT here if they would of known I was gonna make posts like this....

Ok, want to see a picture of my exemplar? Because I heart YOU!

Monday, March 15, 2010

HI bloggg!!
Did you missed me? Oh, but I missed you ever so much! Ok, so you can't be made at me; I have been crazy for the past week, and even though I neglected you you've been on my mind. So, now I have lost of things to share with you oh drear blog! Bombs away!
First: I decided to in clude all of our CMI homwork for the viewing pleasure of all of my blog readers. Who wouldn't want to know what homework we have to do?! (Ha, HA, HAAAh, blog readers?! What blog readers?! I don't really have any blog readers!)
1) Using
one of your three previously done INCOMPLETE lesson plans, (as in the first lesson plan we did after our very first trip to Gwendolyn Brooks H. S., the second one that we did being the one we did from an art 21 and turned in last week, and finally the one we had due today but was actually just an exemplar) make it into a COMPLETE lesson plan. And yes, she did say we must include our friends "the standards" that we all know and love so much AND an assessment rubric.

2) We have to do four more note pages from Art 21 artists, although she said this time we can venture outside of Art 21 should we decide to as long as they are so called credible artists.

3) Again using those Art 21 artist/whatever artists make a forth Incomplete lesson plan. However in class she said scratch the write up and description for this and JUST DO AN EXEMPLAR AS THE INCOMPLETE LESSON . (C'mon who remembers that. She said it!) In other words, overachievers, just do both to be safe!

4) Bring in the two EXEMPLARS from today, and of course your new exemplar from your the INCOMPLETE lesson plan you will do.

5) Finish the sheet she gave us on the missing standards and fill in the correct ones.

6) "Breathe, that's very important." (Ok, Patricia didn't say that, but Mr. Miyagi did)

"Wax ON, Wax OFF "

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RZxbKvD1YQ
Here is what I have to say about the blogs and sites for this week. I heart the artjunction.org blog and the Teacher's guide to the Internet. That's the guy we skyped with last semester in John's class! I heart him! And, his picture of himself with that hat on cracks me up! Ok, maybe I don't know him well enough to really love him, but I do think he seems like a really nice person and he genuinely seems to want to help teachers or teachers-to-be use the web and technology in Art education. That is perfect for me,right???
Plus, his blog was soooo informative and approachable, even for me. And, even though it was kind of a lot or writing I actually read it all. That's not usual for me! Ha, ha... Anyway, even in the "about this blog" part, it was not fancy pants language and it was very clear what he was aiming for. So yeah, I liked that piece he posted from a student of his. It was the water bottle piece. So true, so true! Really good blog, yo!

Ok, what I have to say about the CPS site is that it was ok. Just ok. I tried to look for job openings and stuff, but I couldn't even find if they were even posted.??? Dih. Maybe I am just slow... But, anyhow, I did post a "story" in this one section where you were able to post stories or comments or experiences with cps or cps students. But, it was weird because I wrote all this stuff and then they were like "ugh, only 500 characters, Arrrr" Yes, they said that. So then I had to shorten it and I did but when I was gonna try to copy and past what I wrote into this blob, as soon as I tried, it all just disappeared and It sai
Ugh, but ANYWAY, I did think it was a cool idea: to be able to post personal stories about cps experiences. Taht was the one thing about the site that was impressive to me, at least for cps.

Bye!!!

http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi2643919129/

Oh! I had to tell you guys: I saw this film last night, Mad Hot Ballroom. It was sooooo good! You should all see it because it is entertaining, inspiring and adorable!

I think I tried to include this link so you can watch a trailer.... I hope it works. (duh)

:-)

I'm in the Library...

I feel like a little library gnome today. I've been in here for hours...doing god only knows what!!! Reading magazines, writing e-mails ??? ...OMG. Maybe if I just sort of set up camp and live in here for a while, I will eventually start doing some thesis writing/research...

<----Look, at least this guy has a book in his hand. I bet he already wrote his whole thesis!! Ugh!!!

Peace out!

thinking about blogs and sites

I REAllY liked the NAEA website. I found looking at it made me want to learn more. I also found it easy to use and navigate, which is a big plus for me! It was organized really well, I thought, so I could tell what was what. Their page design seemed well suited too because it was bright and fun,it made me think art Ed! I Also love the Chicago artist's resource. I get e-mails from them and find them to be pretty productive non. I mostly just like how their web page is cut and clean. The simple lay out makes it very straight forward.

Lastly i liked the Brooklyn Museum blog more than the blog we looked at last weeke because I found it more approachable. The language was understandable and they stated their purpose of their most recent post right away so i had a clear idea of what was going on. And I like the idea of putting their collection on line! You go, Brooklyn Museum!

Wooo hoo!
We learned our ABC's!!!

And these were the yummy macrons!!! Sooooo good! And pretty...

Things with sugar

Hi blog!!!!
I meant to say "hi" to you last week, but oops... Did you miss me? Well, while your where just chillin', I was eating A LOT of sugar!
The whale cookie when to Joel. Oh and the pretty tin ceiling was taken at Alience Bakery on Division, that's where we got the cookies. And, that's Andrea pushing around her quiche. Andrea, why you always gotta look sad like that?!

Discussion????

Here are my thoughts on the two web pages we were supposed to look at and mention or discuss in our blogs (oops) here goes nothing (duh!)

www.museumtwo.blogspot.com was a really cool idea for a blog, I thought. My only criticism was there were two many words and that made me not wanna read it all. Sound lazy? True, but most museum goers are lazy! Ever been to a museum with someone else who just wants to rush through the whole place and go to the store? Yeah. Oh, and on that note, why are museum shops so freggin' expensive?! But any way, the museumtwo blogg was cool over all. I liked the idea about starting a reaction boad to a particular exhibit. But I guess using post-it notes is kinds low tech, maybe that's why i like it?!

On the other site we had to check out, this one" http://artic.edu/aic Um, that's just the art institute's web page. I have no complaints about it per say. It was pretty interactive I guess. Hummm, I don't know what to say so I will just stop talking now...

Ok, peace out!

Ps. Cooooooool, I made it a pretty colors!!!

hi blog world,I'm back!
Still learning to get comfortable with this medium...

So, let me tell you some stuff since I've been gone. Here's what been happening that's exciting:
I turned 26. Yay me! Now I am more than a quarter of a century. Hoary, I am also past the mid 20-something slump.

Also valentines' Day happened. I got a really cool book from my boyfriend Joel. It's called : "Listography" It's going to be the story of my life in the form of lists. Cool, huh? Especially because lately it seems like all we are doing in our classes is thinkin' about our life stories; our "me power point", that paper we have to write for Phsyc/Soch/Phenon... Jeez.

Anyway, another thing that happened out here in the real world, out side of cyber land, is we went to the Modern Wing of the Art Institute. It was pretty cool talking to people who we'd never met... some of them seems scared though... maybe it was just weird that we were asking them questions? But more were nice and full of ideas! I have to say though, a number of the people we talked to said they "didn't want there to be too much technology" in the museum...
Hummmm

Lastly, those chocolates are from the new "french market" at the Metra station on Clinton. How cool!

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Let me explain....

Hello world.
I'm here to tell you a little bit more about myself and in doing so explain the ridiculousness of the title of this blog. Ready? OK, here goes nothing:
I hate computers. Well, hate is a strong word, maybe I don't hate them... But I don't love them either, and I definitely don't love technology. But, I do like to write. So, this part of the whole blog making thing isn't so bad.
All I really know how to do with computers is type and use the Internet. Even those two things, I was a late bloomer on learning. So, this means no, I don't tweet, blog ,skype, use facebook or myspace, or even know half of the stuff there is out there to do using computers. I'm not even proficient in photoshop and I only recently made my first ever power point presentation! It sort of sounds like I am living in the archaic 1950's doesn't it? (Ok, I do watch stuff on youtube sometimes, but a monkey could do that, right? Yeah, I would say that is basically my level of techno- know-how; monkey) More on all this later...
I know what your thinking: What am I, some sort of weirdo or something!? Not really, just a little quirky, I guess. Maybe more on that later too, but back to me and computers...
Here is my goal: to learn how to "like" using computers more and become more comfortable with technology over all. At least enough to make me feel like less of a techno outcast and be able to do more interesting and useful things with technology.
The thing is, what I really like is to make things with my hands. For me it always comes down to a computer can't make me a delicious Italian dinner, or paint me a beautiful oil painting or sew me a blanket, so why would I spend time on it?! And aside from that, I find sitting and staring at the monitor boring! I don't fell connected to computers or technology in any way when I use them. I just use them to do what I gotta do,and that's about it. Don't get me wrong; I do love having a computer because I need to use it for school and work, but that's about it. My Mac's name is Rosie because she has a pretty pink cover .When I'm finished with whatever I needed her for, I turn her off and don't bother to venture out there into cyberland. Same goes with other kinds of technology; yes I do have an I pod touch(which came with the computer, mind you) but all I do with it is listen to music. I don't even have any pictures or videos on it, I don't have any cool apps either... I just can't seem to fall in love with the idea of it all the same way everyone else has. I just wanna listen to my music and that's it! I never even bothered to learn how to do all the other stuff with it.
So, are you starting to see why I named this blog "Computerchopedliver"? I was trying to come up with something cute or clever for a name, but instead my boyfriend and I started joking around (of coarse he had to be here to help me even get started with the blog) and in the midst of things I thought of something as repulsive as chopped liver and we agreed it just seemed like a perfect name for a blog of mine!
I understand the ideas behind modern technology and I appreciate the convenience technology has presented us with, but I just can't seem to get excited about it... At least not yet. I'm hoping this class will help me have a better out look and a better set of techno savvy skills! Otherwise I guess I just won't be taking anything with a battery, the Internet, or an electric Cord to my desert island.
